Eligibility criteria

Debit Cards Criteria
Nationality/Age at entry If you are UAE National or UAE resident and minimum 18 years of age.

Activate your debit card (only activate after receiving the physical card)

  • Log in to the CBD app and follow instructions to activate your card

  • SMS ACT along with the last 4 digits of your debit card number to 4266 (e.g. ACT 1234 from your registered mobile number with CBD

  • Call 600 575 556 and follow the instructions on IVR (you will require telephone banking PIN) or speak to one of our customer service representatives

Create your debit card PIN

  • Log in to the CBD app and follow instructions to activate your card

  • Visit any CBD ATM

  • Call 600 575 556 and follow the instructions on IVR (note: telephone banking PIN is required)

FAQs

What should I do if my card is lost or stolen?
If you card is lost or stolen, call us immediately on 04 211 2818 within UAE or +9714 211 2818 from outside UAE.
As a primary cardholder, can I activate the supplementary cards?
As a primary cardholder, you will be required to activate all supplementary cards issued on your account and set the required PIN for each card.
Can I continue to use my old PIN on the newly issued Mastercard® Debit Card?
Applicable for replaced cards only.

You will be required to set a PIN for the newly issued debit card. However, you have the option of retaining the old 4 digit number or choosing a new number, as per your convenience.
How do I create my PIN?

You can create your card PIN by following any of the options given below:

  • Login to CBD app and the follow instructions to create your card PIN
  • Visit any CBD ATM and the follow instructions
  • Call 04 211 2818 and follow the instructions on IVR (note: telephone PIN is required)

 (Please note that CBD will never ask you for your CBD Debit Card PIN so please do not disclose this information to anyone)

How can I activate my new card?

You can easily activate your new card by following any of the options given below:

  • Log in to CBD app and follow instructions to activate your card

What is Chip & PIN?

Your CBD Debit Card has an embedded microchip which requires your card to be inserted into a point of sales machine at the merchant side, and armed with your personal 4-digit PIN, you can then secure a smooth and most importantly, safe transaction.

How does Mastercard Contactless work?

Your CBD Mastercard  Debit Card has Contactless technology which allows you to pay for everyday essentials by simply tapping your card on any Contactless enabled device at merchants and the amount will automatically be deducted from your account without the card ever leaving your hand. To pay using Contactless technology, please do the following:  

1. Look for the contactless symbol at point of sale
2. Simply touch your contactless card against the reader.
3. A beep or green light shows your payment is processed.
4. Once your payment has been confirmed you will be offered a receipt.

Warning

If the account balance is below the Minimum balance thresholds, then the corresponding breach of Minimum balance charges will apply. For complete product details and warnings, please refer to the Key Facts Statement document.

To ensure you are not charged a monthly service fee on your account, please ensure you maintain a minimum monthly average balance of AED 5,000 (minimum salary transfer of AED 5,000 or more, effective 1 August 2024). This is waived if you transfer your salary to CBD or if you have a loan/finance with the bank.
