You need to register first before you can activate your card online.
SMS Send the message: CACT<space>last 4 digits of card number<space> 4 digits clear PIN to 4266 (e.g. CACT 1234) from your registered mobile number with CBD. Please note that this will be effective on the next business day.

Call our customer service center on 600 575 556 and choose option 4 after language selection. Note: TIN (Telephone Identification Number) is required.
Please ensure you sign on the back of your credit card.
Login to CBD Online Banking and follow instructions to create your new PIN.
Send the message: CPIN<space>last4 digits of card number<space> 4 digit clear PIN to 4266 (e.g. CPIN 1234) from your registered mobile number with CBD. Please note that this will be effective on the next business day.
Call our customer service center on 600 575 556 and follow the instructions on IVR (note: telephone PIN is required).
Visit any CBD ATM machine and select “PIN services”.
1. Present your CBD Chip & Pin credit card to the merchant. Rather than swiping your card, it will be inserted into the point-of-sales machine.
2. The merchant will ask you to enter your PIN. Enter your 4 digit PIN which you will setup while activating your card.
3. Once your transaction gets authorized your card will be returned to you with a sales receipt. No need to sign.
CBD credit cards are equipped with a smart microchip which requires the credit card to be inserted into a point-of-sale machine, where you will need to enter a 4-digit PIN to complete your transaction when purchasing items in a secure way. The Chip & Pin gives you the convenience to make purchases, pay bills, or get cash in a secure way.
If you card has been lost or stolen, simply contact us at your nearest branch or our Call Centre on 600 575 556 immediately and we will block the lost or stolen card and initiate a replacement card for you.

All cards will be couriered. The courier company will contact you on your registered mobile number and you will receive the card at a location of your convenience.
For existing customers the new card will be issued if:
New customers will get the Chip & Pin card by default.

To activate your new CBD Chip & Pin Credit Card, you can do any of the following:
Chip & Pin Card contains a small embedded microchip, which encrypts your account information, making it difficult to duplicate. You will be required to enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) for transactions on Chip enabled Terminals, making your purchases more secure.
Your CBD Mastercard Debit Card has Contactless technology
which allows you to pay for everyday essentials by simply tapping your card on
any Contactless enabled device at merchants and the amount will automatically
be deducted from your account without the card ever leaving your hand. To pay
using Contactless technology, please do the following:
1. Look for the contactless symbol at point of sale
2. Simply touch your contactless card against the reader.
3. A beep or green light shows your payment is processed.
4. Once your payment has been confirmed you will be offered a receipt.
Your CBD Mastercard Debit Card has Contactless technology which allows you to pay for everyday essentials with following options:
Simply tap your card on any Contactless enabled device at merchants and the amount will automatically be deducted from your account without the card ever leaving your hand. Tap, pay and go, with the benefit of knowing that even if you tap twice by mistake, you can only be charged once.
