How to activate your card

Before you can use your debit card, you will need to activate it. Please do this as soon as you receive your card through the post. This will help us give you a better service, and protect you against debit card fraud.

To activate your debit card, choose one of the following options:


  1. SMS
    Send the message: ACT<space><last 4 digits of debit card number> to 4266 (e.g. ACT 1234) from your registered mobile number with CBD.

  2. Phone
    Call our business banking service center on 04 211 2818 and follow the instructions on IVR (note: telephone PIN is required).

  3. Visit your nearest CBD Business Banking branch
    CBD business banking branches have dedicated relationship managers to assist you in activating your card.

Please ensure you sign on the back of your debit card.

PIN and PIN Security

Your PIN must contain 4 digits using numbers between 0 and 9. Choose a number that is easily remembered but difficult for others to guess. For example, avoid using your own birthday, house number, or sections of your telephone numbers. Also avoid using only one repeated number, such as 1111. It is important to choose a number you will remember.


To create your new debit card PIN, choose one of the following options:

Lost or Stolen

If you card has been lost or stolen, simply contact us at your nearest branch or our Business Banking Call Centre on 04 211 2818 immediately and we will block the lost or stolen card and initiate a replacement card for you.

FAQ's

As a primary cardholder, you will be required to activate all supplementary cards issued on your account and set the required PIN for each card.

Your CBD Debit Card has an embedded microchip which requires your card to be inserted into a point of sales machine at the merchant side, and armed with your personal 4-digit PIN, you can then secure a smooth and most importantly, safe transaction.

1. Look for the contactless symbol when paying for small everyday purchases that are AED 300 or less. 
2. Simply touch your contactless card against the reader.
3. A beep or green light shows your payment is processed.
4. Once your payment has been confirmed you will be offered a receipt.

Your CBD Debit Card has PayPass technology which allows you to pay for everyday essentials up to AED 300 in less than a second. Simply tap your card on any PayPass enabled device at merchants and the amount will automatically be deducted from your account without the card ever leaving your hand. Tap, pay and go, with the benefit of knowing that even if you tap twice by mistake, you can only be charged once.
